it that the arrest of Diezani Madueke, the immediate past minister for
petroleum has created panic in the banking sector.

The Managing Directors and
Executive Directors of two leading banks in Nigeria are already in a panic mood
as security agents try to unravel their involvement in the allegation of
bribery, money laundering and corruption against a former Minister of Petroleum,
Diezani Alison-Madueke, Freedom Online is reporting.
Alison-Madueke was arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate
Court in London on Friday by the United Kingdom National Crime Agency.
She served in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Freedom Online said it learnt the bank officials “are already
pressing buttons to ensure that they are given a soft landing but they were
told that if they cooperate with the prosecution, their request will be
granted”.
They are also pleading for names of their banks “to be protected
during the arraignment of the former minister in London, a request which may be
difficult to grant”.
