The Chief Executive
Officer of Access Bank Hubert Wigwe is being linked to massive corruptions
allegations against former Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode.
Ambode is
currently
undergoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over
an alleged N9billion corruption case.
Operatives of the EFCC
earlier today performed an ‘’extensive search’’ of the Ikoyi and Epe homes of
Ambode as part of this investigation.
Emerging details have it
that multiple deals perfected between Access Bank and Lagos State Government,
including the yearly long-distance Marathon under Ambode’s watch formed about
alleged N800million fraud in the ongoing investigation.
‘’Nothing is proven but
the investigation is on’’ a source stated.
Ambode and the Access
Bank CEO are said to enjoy a rich personal relationship.
Ambode
who insists is hands are clean in the charges against him issued a statement
telling his supporters ‘’there is no cause for alarm’’ as the investigation
continues.
