The Code of Conduct Bureau on Friday alleged that the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, moved funds belonging to Kwara State into his personal account while he was governor of the state.


The allegation is contained in a counter affidavit deposed to by the bureau in response to a fresh application Mr. Saraki filed challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

One of the suspected kidnappers of the three Lagos schoolgirls, Emmanuel Arigidi, 37, yesterday explained how the plot to kidnap the girls was hatched up.

He also said the girls were not hurt while with their abductors. Arigidi, who also confessed to have participated in the bloody Ikorodu bank robberies, said he was stationed on the river and received N100,000 for ferrying the bank robbers to the creeks.

Arigidi, who claimed to be a traditional bone doctor, said the abduction of the schoolgirls at Babington Macurlay Junior Seminary (BMJS), Ikorodu was planned for two months.

Two weeks to the March 19 legislative rerun in Rivers State, masked gunmen at 9 pm on Saturday, beheaded a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Franklin Obi, and killed his wife and 18-year-old son, Bestman.

The gunmen took away the head of Franklin. After shooting him dead, they severed his head and disappeared.

Kidnappers Of 3 Lagos School Girls Slashes Demand To N10m From N200m

Indications emerged yesterday that the kidnappers of three schoolgirls of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary (BMJS), Ikorodu, Lagos might have reduced the ransom amount.

Timilehin Olusa, Tofunmi Popoolaniyan and Deborah Akinayo were kidnapped from the classrooms on Monday night.

It was learnt that the criminals who made another contact at about 2a.m with one of the victims’ parents, reduced the amount to N10million from the N200million they initially demanded.

UBA Gets New Group Managing Director...He Is Kennedy Uzoka

At a meeting held at UBA House, the UBA Group Board today approved the appointment of Kennedy Uzoka as the new Group Managing Director, with effect from August 1st, 2016 and subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.  Mr Uzoka succeeds Phillips Oduoza, who retires on July 31, 2016, after two terms of leading the UBA Group.
