Ex-Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose has declared that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains “a gift to the Yoruba nation… God forbid that he will be brought down”
Fayose who is
a leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the main opposition party in Nigeria asserted in a video available to societynow.ng.The PDP chieftain labels “attacks” on Tinubu who is a major promoter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the handiwork of traitors and cheap political opportunists.
Fayose’s declarations on Tinubu comes in the face of widespread attacks on the person of the influential politician including the recent destruction of business interests linked to him, especially multiple awards winning media platforms TVC (Television station) and The Nation (Newspaper).
The Former Governor of Ekiti stated in the video
“…I am not defending, I am saying the obvious, I am making it clear that, if you trace our history our leaders have always been given away by men they brought up, traitors within their camps.
Somebody gives you a platform that you never expected in life and the only option you can do is for you to betray that person for you to rise, that will never work.
The former governor of Lagos state and a prominent figure, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubuis a major figure in Yoruba nation, call him any name you will like to call him. It will be foolhardy of anyone denying this fact.
“ I want to say it expressly, if anything happens to Bola Ahmed Tinubu we are reasonably consumed, it sends all the signals if these things are happening to men like that, every other person would ordinarily must have been consumed so for me I am not defending Ahmed Bola Tinubu, I am defending the Yoruba nation.
I am establishing the fact that he remains a major key leader that nobody can ignore. I might not be in APC, I have said it severally I am not in APC and I will never be in APC, but if you want to sacrifice Bola Tinubu because of these cheap political opportunists, it is not going to work..all these things will only work for a period of time.
“In due course water will find its level, I want to say it expressly he has made his mark rubbishing him will not be an option for those doing that and may I say it that without Bola Ahmed Tinubu there wouldn’t have been a Buhari, there wouldn’t have been a Buhari, and I am sure in his heart now, he too will know that something is wrong somewhere, something is wrong somewhere, you understand, this must be a miscalculation. But we cannot question God, we cannot question God.
He (Tinubu) remains a gift to Yoruba land and we will continue to, ehm because I want to be a leader too so I am not going to be one of those who run him down, we are not good friends, we have been in opposing camps but that is not enough, that is not enough.
If you remember the story of Abiola, he was brought down by his own men, if you remember the case of Awolowo he was brought down by his own kinsmen, the same is happening to this man. but God forbid that Ahmed Bola Tinubu will be brought down like that, God will intervene.”
