NSC D.G, Elegbeleye Begins Underground Campaign To Succeed Ondo Gov, Mimiko & How He Fell Out With Sports Minister, Danagogo Over Moves To Amass Election Fund.

Mr Gbenga Elegbeleye, the Director General National Sports Commission  is in  the news for reasons outside of sports.

He is said to be very interested in succeeding out going governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko.

Sources however claim put plans in place to actualise his dream is already causing rumpus
at his place of work- and beyond.

National Sports Commission Boss, Gbenga Elegbeleye is interested in occupying the office of the Governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko.

The incumbent state head man is not eligible to recontest after two terms - and Elegbeleye is said to believe this development makes it a perfect period for him to pursue his ambition.

Insiders disclose he has kick started an intense underground campaign to achieve his objective.

According to a source, the former Federal Law maker confided his ambition to a handful of confidants and stakeholders since his days

Informants claim, it is this background he is currently leveraging on to initiate an underground campaign.

Information pieced together revealed outside of the ongoing attempts at rallying support for his cause , the man described as at logger heads with sports minister- Tammy Danagogo is said to be stockpiling funds to prosecute his ambition.

Sources claim it is part of the process of amassing wealth for upcoming campaign that pitched the NSC Director General against the Sports Minister.


Information revealed the NSC boss and the Minister had perfected an arrangement to how to 'manage things'.

But the execution appeared to favour the D.G than the Minister, and soured their 'relationship'.

Amongst areas that caused festering friction are listed as,unspent fund from the African Youth Games in Gaborone, Botswana. The Federal Government reportedly released N1.2billion.

Another is identified as the manner of the organisation of National Sports Festival in Calabar, particularly finances.

Cancelled allocation for the off-shore training of the athletes meant to represent the nation in the July Commonwealth Games, especially the pre event single handedly staged by the D.G is also listed as another cause of dissatisfaction.

Insiders revealed Elegbeleye is said to be using these means as a fund sourcing avenue for his gubernatorial ambition. With the Minister feeling short changed.

Minister Danagogo is said to be so upset with the D.G that he publicly declare his office 'illegal' as a means to oust him.

Informants however claim Elegbeleye is using links in the presidency and support in the Federal House of Representatives to smoother opposition from the Minister.

Informants claim the game plan is to weather the storm long enough to position himself in vantage position to achieve his gubernatorial ambition.

The Ondo elections comes up in October 2016.
