Police also apprehended two suspects,  Chigozie Smart 32 and  Kingsley Ikechukwu 36 alongside Oluchi at Ijebu-Ode, Benin expressway during “stop and search operation” .

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illiyasu while parading the suspects at the Command’s Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta told journalists that Oluchi planned the failed assassination with other suspects and kept the weapons such as acid, cutlass and iron rods at her husband’s compound in Agungi area of Ajah in Lagos State where the incident occurred last week Wednesday

Illiyasu explained that Oluchi who is a staff of Fidelity Bank Plc instructed the suspected assassins to killed her husband and also snatched his Range Rover jeep from him, revealing that the woman told the assassins to take the jeep to her brother in Anambra State.

He said the suspects matched Oluchi husband’s severally on the head and poured the acid on him but luckily for the victim, the offensive odour of the acid was much for the assailants and they abandoned him and fled.

The police boss disclosed that the assassins were arrested on the Ijebu-Ode, Benin expressway on their way to Anambra and blood stain was seen in the car.

“The suspects went there as planned matchetted the man severally on his head and poured the acid on him. It is the offensive odour that came out from the suit worn by the victim when the acid touched it that made the suspects to quickly abandoned him and took away his Range Rover Jeep which the wife instructed them to take and deliver to her brother in Anambra State”

CP stated that the estranged couple has been separated for a while with the wife living with her father somewhere in Ayobo area of Lagos state, while the husband, Tochukwu had a date with a court yesterday Wednesday over the custody of the only daughter of the marriage.

She acknowledged that the about three years old marriage had crashed, affirming that she had no reason to kill her husband.
