Party Heavy Weights Absent At Asiwaju Tinubu's Peddled Favourite, Akinwunmi Ambode's Guber Declration.

It didn't go down as expected, if information made available to naijacelebrities.net is anything to go by.

Report source from online platform, thelightnews has it - party heavy weights shunned the gubernatorial declaration of Akinwunmi Ambode, the labelled candidate of political leader, Asiwaju Tinubu.

Here is the report.

'Many have started calling him the next Governor of Lagos but with the evidence of what unfolded at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos yesterday, it is obvious that Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode still has many rivers to cross as his formal declaration was shunned by many APC bigwigs.

Though the atmosphere was carnival like and the stadium near-full, it was the absence of many of the All People’s Congress (APC) stalwarts like its National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that has raised eyebrows.

A lot of people had thought that Mr. Ambode who retired as Accountant-General of Lagos State was going to use his massive, highly-publicised declaration as a show of strength, mobilizing all the top echelon of the party to send shivers down the spines of the myriads of other aspirants-but it never happened.

APC leaders spotted included Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Hon  James Faleke of the House of Representatives, Chairman of the Forum of Local Government Chairmen in Lagos State, Hon Adekunle Akeem, former Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon Tunde Braimoh, former Women Leader for the APC in Lagos State, Hon Adetoun Adediran, former Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Hon Paul Kalejaiye and Alhaji Abiodun Sumala

However, what it lost in quality guests, it gained in solid entertainment as the organisers offered the thousands of supporters who came dressed in special attires an opportunity to enjoy Fuji act, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and sensational rap artistes, M. I. and Olamide.

Ambode’s declaration speech entitled: “Continuing the Progress, Securing the Future” was full of promises to consolidate on the development process already going on in Lagos. According to him “I stand before you today in the spirit of the continuity of excellence that Lagos is known for. My vision and mission is to create a clean, secure and prosperous Lagos State that is driven by a vibrant economy and supported by quality service, equity and justice.

“Lagos is the most cosmopolitan state in Nigeria and there is no room for discrimination. Whether you are Igbo, Efik, Ijaw, Hausa, Fulani, a foreigner, whoever you are, so far you live or work in Lagos, our government will work for you and you will be adequately represented. …We want a Lagos that will not deny any Nigerian citizen the right of political participation and access to services. It is not about sectionalism. This is the new Nigeria that we want to build and Lagos is the focal point from where we would build the Nigeria of our dreams.”

“I am resolved to offer you genuine leadership that will be accountable with all the principles of good governance, a government of inclusion that will not leave any race or gender behind. No matter your age, sex, tribe or any other status, as long as you reside in Lagos, we will make Lagos liveable for you. We will work to create opportunities for all and offer selfless service. As we proceed we will leave no one behind. “What our great party stands for is change, positive change. We will create wealth. We will create new jobs. We will challenge ourselves to make Lagos a better place. We will take Lagos to the next level. We are going to do it together. Everybody counts

“ The last fifteen years have witnessed an irreversible growth and development of our great state with a foundation laid concretely by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu between 1999 and 2007. The consolidation and actualisation of that growth, of which we are all living testimonies, have been achieved by the indefatigable incumbent Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola. (SAN).

He said his government will be driven by the words L-A-G-O-S: Leadership, Accountability, Good Governance, Opportunities and Service.
