Senatorial Candidate, Olamilekan Solomon Is Dead!



The death as been announced of Senatorial candidate, Olamilekan Solomon.


Here are the details as reported

The Labour Party candidate for the Ogun West Senatorial District in the forthcoming National Assembly election, Mr. Prof. Solomon Olamilekan, died on Wednesday morning.

Olamilekan, a pharmacist, died on Monday morning in a private hospital around the Adigbe area of Abeokuta.

The State Secretary of the party, Sunday Oginni, who broke the sad news to journalists, said the late Olamilekan had complained of ‘stiff neck’ on Sunday to his political associates, and was rushed to a private hospital in Adigbe, Abeokuta, where he later died on Wednesday’s morning.

While he described the late candidate’s death as shocking, Oginni explained that the deceased could not attend the Senatorial meeting held on Monday due to the ailment.

He said, “Prof. Olamilekan had been complaining of stiff neck, and when we did not see him at the senatorial meeting, we asked of his whereabouts and we were told that he was in the hospital.

“But,this morning, we were called that the man was dead. It is a great calamity to the party because he was one of the very strong candidates we have in the party.

“He had assisted the Labour Party to gain more popularity and acceptance, especially in the rural areas and many of the residents in rural areas have promised to vote for him.”

The Chairman of Ogun West Senatorial District of the party, Jimoh Edun, while reacting to Olamilekan’s death, pointed accusing fingers at the opposition parties, claiming that the popularity of the deceased prompted the opposition to kill him.
