Governor
of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun has made a clandestine sale of one of a major
project.
Here are
the details
The
governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun has sold the expansive premises of the
State owned Gateway Hotels, Ota. Yemojanews can exclusively reveal.
We
gathered that the hotel which was built by the first civilian governor of the
State, late Chief Bisi Onabanjo, was sold to billionaire businessman, Tayo
Amusan.
The
Gateway hotel Ota, located near the old toll gate, along Lagos Abeokuta
expressway Ota, according to sources will now house Shoprite, a shopping mall
owned by Tayo Amusan.

recall that the former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel at the
twilight of his administration concessioned the three Gateway Hotels in
Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and Ota to three private investors.
The reason given by the then governor for the concession was that all the three Hotels were being run at losses as only twenty seven million naira was realized from the three luxurious hotels since they were built in 1979 by late Chief Bisi Onabanjo .
But
while Governor Amosun retained the concession agreement with the investors
running both Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode hotels, he reportedly canceled the Ota
concession which was made with an America based hospitality investment company.
Since
his inauguration as Governor of Ogun State in 2011, Governor Amosun made sure
the Gateway Hotel in Ota rots away until late late year when he was about to
run for his second term that he decided to sell it to Tayo Amusan.
Meanwhile, some top indigenes of Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local government are already complaining about the sale and their grouse stem from the fact that Tayo Amusan is a close ally of Governor Amosun.

“When Bisi Onabanjo
established the then Gateway Hotels. He made sure he built for the Ijebu
people, Egba people and the Yewa- Awori people. Go and check all the three
hotels, it is the one in Ota here that is not functioning. Governor Amosun has
not been fair to us at all. Now, he has sold the hotel to another Egba man, and
that one is using it to build a shopping complex.” A prominent politician in
Ota disclosed to Yemojanewsng.com.
However, construction works are non stop at the shopping mall and
Tayo Amosun is said to be pumping a lot of money to complete the project as
soon as possible.
For those who don’t know, Tayo Amusan is one of the “boys” of
former Military President, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida. He is a big time
property developer and has mega interests in the oil and gas industry. Tayo
owns the popular Palms Shopping Mall in Lekki, Lagos State, and the newly built
Shoprite Complex in Ibadan, Oyo State
