It is so hard to ditch the winning habit particularly for a glorious
institution, like Access Bank Plc. Like a knight bearing shiny lance and
armour, Access Bank resourcefully steers it’s mammoth vessel to financial
success and entrepreneurial acclaim at the local and global business fronts.
This claim is justifiable by the success stories and exploits of the bank.
Yesterday, 6th July, the bank was awarded the Euromoney Award for
‘Africa’s Best Bank Transformation’ at a well attended event in the city of London,
United Kingdom (UK). The event which
further attested to the cutting-edge
facilities, futuristic policies and exploits of Access Bank, attracted the
crème of London and Nigeria’s fiscal industries and economic sector.
This would be the first time a Nigerian bank would be recognised as winner
of this highly sought-after award. Access Bank’s win comes in recognition of
the bank’s increasing transaction flows across Africa, particularly its
dominance in the Nigerian financial markets.
It would be recalled that the bank emerged winner of the 2014 World Finance,
UK Magazine “Sustainable Bank in Nigeria Award” a year earlier. The award
recognized the bank’s leadership in the sustainability space in Nigeria and
Africa.
The bank has been widely praised for focusing on financial inclusion,
providing 30,000 children under the age of nine with banking services, as well
as female empowerment, diversity and investment in the local Nigerian
community, according to the statement.
Access Bank said its emergence as the winner of the award signalled the
growing commitment of Nigerian, and indeed African banks to the adoption of
responsible business practice and incorporation of environmental, social and
governance considerations into the different facets of their operations.
The managing Director of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe and some staff of the
bank were present at the event.
